Identity verification startup Persona recently raised $ 150 million in a round led by the SpaceX Founders Fund.
The San Francisco-based startup allows businesses to verify the identity of their users online by cross-checking things like government credentials and selfies.
Persona aims to become a leader in the identity verification market, which should be worth more than $ 16 billion worldwide by 2026, by partnering with companies such as food delivery company DoorDash, edtech Coursera and the Robinhood trading platform.
Businesses can integrate Persona’s verification tool into their websites and applications and choose the constraints required to be considered successful verified.
Persona has also secured support from existing investors Coatue Management and Index Ventures in its Series C cycle, alongside Meritech Capital Partners and Bond. The Series C cycle came less than six months after closed his $ 50 million Series B round.
“Identity is at the heart of every business, whether you’re a bank verifying an account holder, a market corroborating sellers, or a business welcoming new employees,” said Rick Song, CEO of Persona. “But identity is not a one-off transaction, it’s a relationship.
“With Persona’s identity infrastructure, businesses can go beyond verifications and build trust throughout the customer lifecycle by delivering a safer, faster and more personalized experience for each individual. “
“Persona is rapidly becoming the market leader in identity,” said Napoleon Ta, Founders Fund partner. “We are confident that Persona will achieve its vision of providing the trusted identity layer for the entire Internet. Founders Fund is excited to help Persona scale to meet global demand.
